The 138th British Open Golf 2009, Turnberry
July 16-19,Turnberry, Ayrshire  It will be the fourth time Turnberry has hosted The Open. The venue is famous for the 1977 Duel in the Sun between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus. Since Price's win in 1994 the demands of the Open have substantially increased and a solution to Turnberry's traffic problems had to be found before a return could be considered. David Hill, director of championships for The R&A said: "There has never been any doubt that the Open would return to Turnberry, one of our very best links courses, but before reaching that decision we had to be convinced that every aspect of our forward planning process was in place to ensure a successful return to Turnberry in 2009. added Hill. With the sea by your side and that famous lighthouse in the distance, there are few courses in the world that can match Turnberry for beauty  or excitement. Scene of some of the most memorable moments in Open history, the Ailsa championship course is a legend in the world game. Watson, Norman, Price they’ve all won golf’s most coveted trophy here on the Turnberry links. And another name will join them in the summer of 2009 when the Open returns to the Ailsa. But it’s not only the world’s best that can enjoy a round here. Every year, thousands of golfers of all abilities enjoy the thrill of playing an Open Championship course that’s open to all.
